Acer palmatum 'Koto no ito' Japanese Maple

About Our Sizes

Koto no ito means 'Harp Strings' referring to the very fine linearlobum leaves. Spring foliage is pale green changing to medium green in summer then golden yellow in the fall.

The mature leaves have extremely thin and long lobes that sometimes spiral, however, wider lobes are common during vigorous growth in youth. Koto no ito is an upright tree, dense with a soft appearance. It is easy to grow and quite heat tolerant despite the finely textured leaves.
