Peter Gregory calls this tree the best large leaved red cultivar in the deeply divided group and I agree. Bright red spring changes to deep red in summer, transitions through green to outstanding red fall color. Green bark and profuse red seeds that light up in the sun. More upright, less spreading than most in this group with a sturdy open structure. Vigorous in youth, best protected from intense sun. Excellent in the garden or in a container with pruning.
