ACER palmatum Tsukushi gata

Tsukushi gata is in a redwood box on my deck and I daily appreciate the lovely open form with fine pale green branches. Spring is a stunning red changing to the rich-red brown summer color, we refer to this tree as one of the chocolate trees because the color is so lush. As summer progresses the vein in the leaf changes to green for a contrast to the brown, then bright red fall. Slow growing, best with some shade, a personal favorite of mine.
