ACER shirasawanum ssp. tenuifolium

Lovely orbicular leaf unfolds like a pale green fan in spring. Vigorous in the first year of growth then slowing to perhaps 3" per year. A wide, open, layered form, with beautiful fall color. Easy to grow, excellent cold tolerance, needs protection from hot sun. Wonderful for containers and small gardens, frequently used for bonsai.
