This tree has the most intensely pink spring color of any variegated maple and the longest lasting as well. The name means "Seven Red Apparitions" and I believe they are referring to the shadowy appearance created from the distinct two tone leaf. Summer changes the pink to cream creating the effect of a cool blue-green. A vigorous grower that benefits from pruning to maintain size.
